Brattleby
is a conservation village and was mentioned in the domesday
book. It is six miles due north of Lincoln and is an easy
drive along the Lincoln Edge with panoramic views over the
Trent and Witham valley. It is a small village of Saxon origin
and offers an ideal base for exploring Lincoln and the many
attractions of the surrounding area.
The
Stable is a former farm building and at one time housed the
milkman's horse. It is built of local limestone with a pantile
roof and is reputed to be the oldest building in the village.
It is self-contained, quiet and secluded and looks out over
open fields.
It is a 10 minute drive to both the historic and shopping areas of Lincoln.
Locally
there are antique centres, sports and leisure facilities,
historic houses and several nature reserves. Lincolnshire
has a famous aviation heritage. The Red Arrows are based locally
and can occasionally be seen practising from The Stable.
The Dambusters squadron operated from RAF Scampton and Dambusters Inn is in the next village.
Further afield are the Lincolnshire Wolds and the attractions of the east coast.
The Stable has been rebuilt sympathetically and looks much as it used to from the outside. Inside it has been finished and furnished to a high standard. It is a smallish property and will sleep up to four people.
